1996 Spelling Bee
Congratulations to the team from DeWolfe-Lynn, Akers, Burnham real estate agency for winning the 1996 Spelling Bee with the word “alkalescence.”
The team was among 54 teams competing at the annual Bee hosted by WCVB-5 personalities Chet Curtis, Natalie Jacobsen, and Jim Boyd, as well as Gary Gillis, a sports reporter for WHDH-7. The event raised $19,000 for the NEF, a new fundraising record.
The winning team included Liz Brooks-Dennet, Mary Rudolph, and Fran Phillips.
